but r = ᵃ⁄₂
= a² - π(ᵃ⁄₂)²
= a² - ((πa²) ÷ 4)
= (4a² - πa²) ÷ 4
= a² [(4 - π) ÷ 4]

Answer: a² [(4 - π) ÷ 4]
